"I recently bought a property through the Barfoot & Thompson real estate agency. I found the people at the agency to be an absolute delight, in particular the agent who negotiated the sale. Simon Lu is an energetic and friendly character that listened to what I wanted. I had on two previous occasions tried to verbally negotiate a price on properties I was interested in with a different agency. The agents would simply not negotiate verbally, they insisted on a contract. Both of those sales came nowhere near an agreed price even though I gave those agents my top dollar prior to signing the contracts. Time and money wasted on my lawyer. Simon didn't need to be asked twice, After I viewed the property a couple of times I called him to ask if I could see the property again and make a verbal offer, as always throughout this process he was obliging and very keen. Not only did he get me another viewing and agree to verbally negotiate, he managed to get the sellers to come to the agency to verbally negotiate the price in the middle of a week day. He had us in separate offices and spent more than two hours negotiating, on this occasion we could not agree on a price and left it there. A few days passed and I decided to offer a bit more on the property, again Simon organized for me to see the property and again he organized the sellers to meet us to negotiate in the middle of a week day, this time at the property. I enjoyed the sun on the deck whilst Simon negotiated with the sellers inside the house, it was another hour or so of negotiating which ended just two thousand dollars off the mark. Eventually we met halfway and the contract was signed. Simply put, without Simon this sale would not have happened. At no time did I feel like I was putting Simon out, even though I called him numerous times after hours and during the weekend. If my call went to voicemail he would call me back within minutes.
