Find out how the average rent for different-sized Auckland properties has changed over the past year.
Compared to June 2015, the average weekly rent for one bedroom properties has risen by 5% (from $320 to $336), two bedroom by 5.9% (from $406 to $430), three bedroom by 4.9% (from $492 to $516), four bedroom by 3.8% (from $626 to $650) and five or more bedroom by 4.8% (from $763 to $800).
- Central Auckland (mainly apartments) remains the most expensive area to rent smaller properties in Auckland (one, two and three bedroom properties).
- Eastern Suburbs maintains its place as the most expensive for four+ bedrooms.
- South Auckland has seen the greatest percentage increase in the past 12 months of 7.4%.
- North Shore rental prices have seen the least percentage increase in the past 12 months (only rising 3.9%).
- More than half of rentals in West Auckland (55%) are three bedroom. Every other area contains 35-46% three bedroom properties, apart from Central Auckland.
- Pakuranga/Howick has the greatest proportion of five+ bedrooms at 11%.
- The average rent in Auckland is now $516 per week.
